PCMCF PRESIDENT

Steve is a retired construction company president with 30 years of industry leadership experience. A Hawaiʻi Island resident since 1995 and Puna resident since 2000, he has served on the Puna Community Medical Center Board since 2008. He is committed to strengthening access to quality medical services and serving the Puna community.​

HART MILLER, M.D.

FAMILY MEDICINE PHYSICIAN

Hart Miller, M.D., has practiced medicine in Pāhoa since 2007 and currently works in urgent care. His clinical interests include rat lungworm disease, tropical and wilderness medicine, individualized patient care, and the connection between health and the natural environment. A graduate of Clemson University and the Medical University of South Carolina, Hart is also committed to regenerative agriculture, community well-being, and improving the health of the land and people of Puna.

ruth love RN, BSN

With 35 years of experience in emergency care, Ruth began her career as an Emergency Medical Technician in 1985 before becoming an emergency department nurse, serving in roles that included charge nurse, preceptor, educator, and clinical policy development. Her career included extensive experience in trauma, stroke care, triage, emergency preparedness, and advanced cardiac care at both community hospitals and a Level I trauma center in North Carolina. After moving to Hawaiʻi Island in 2018, she brought that experience to Honokaʻa Hospital and now supports the mission of PCMCF by helping advance access to high-quality healthcare for the residents of Puna.

Andrea Rosanoff, Ph.D

Andrea Rosanoff, Ph.D., is an independent scholar and Director of the Center for Magnesium Education & Research, a nonprofit based in Pāhoa. She earned her Ph.D. in Nutrition from the University of California, Berkeley, and has spent much of her career researching the role of nutritional magnesium in cardiovascular health, hypertension, and global nutrition. A Pāhoa resident since 2000, Andrea brings her lifelong commitment to health and research to her support of the Puna Community Medical Campus.

PCMC Project Manager

Soul has served as Project Manager for the Puna Community Medical Center since July 2026. A proud Pāhoa resident with a background in civil engineering, she is committed to building resilient, sustainable communities and improving the well-being of East Hawaiʻi. Soul brings that dedication to helping make the long-awaited medical center a reality for Puna families.

Ariel Murphy, MA

REAL ESTATE SPECIALIST

Ariel has been a Puna resident since 1999 and brings extensive experience in public administration, management, real estate, and community service. Her professional background includes leadership roles with the Republic of the Philippines Department of Budget and Management, as well as work in rural development and real estate brokerage. Ariel is actively involved in the Puna community and serves on the Puna Community Medical Center Foundation Board, bringing a strong commitment to civic engagement and community development.

Kumu dane silva

Dane Kaohelani Silva was a traditionally trained practitioner internationally recognized for integrating Native Hawaiian medicine with scientific research. A respected member of the Puna community, he dedicated much of his life to preserving and advancing traditional healing knowledge. Following his passing in 2022, his legacy continues through the work of Kīpuka Garden and the community he served.

​​David Bruce Leonard, MS, L.Ac.

PCMCF Secretary

David is the founder of the Earth Medicine Institute and a practitioner and teacher of traditional Chinese medicine, with expertise in acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage, food medicine, and martial arts. He holds a master’s degree in traditional Chinese medicine and has studied healing traditions across Asia, the Americas, and Hawaiʻi, developing extensive knowledge of Hawaiian, Chinese, and Western medicinal plants. An author, educator, and longtime student of Hawaiian medicine, David brings a deep commitment to traditional healing, environmental stewardship, and practical approaches to community health.​

Ralph is a longtime Puna resident with extensive experience in public service, labor leadership, and community advocacy. He retired as Hawaiʻi Division Chief of the Hawaiʻi Government Employees Association in 2007 and later served as legislative advocate for the Hawaiʻi County Council and as Hawaiʻi’s representative on the IRS Taxpayer Advocacy Panel. With academic training in bacteriology, chemistry, and medical microbiology, Ralph has also held leadership roles in community organizations and on the Puna Community Medical Center Board.

Chelsey is a nurse serving the East Hawaiʻi community with a strong commitment to improving the health and well-being of Puna residents. A Pāhoa resident and mother of two, she is especially passionate about ensuring local families have access to quality, compassionate healthcare close to home. Chelsey brings her healthcare experience and personal investment in Puna’s future to her work with the Puna Community Medical Center Foundation.
