The Puna Community Medical Center Foundation (PCMCF) began its mission to provide compassionate, community-driven care in 2006 with the establishment of the original Puna Community Medical Clinic, located in the Pāhoa Marketplace (the former Mālama Market shopping center). The clinic filled such a critical need in Pāhoa that it was acquired by East Hawaii Health in 2018. But PCMCF is not finished.

Puna deserves comprehensive medical care closer to home.
With the nearest emergency services at Hilo Benioff Medical Center, residents of Pāhoa and surrounding communities face a minimum 35-minute drive when they need care most urgently. This is not acceptable.
|
Since 2015, PCMCF has been working to develop a comprehensive medical campus for Puna. The project will provide holistic medical care in a setting that honors and supports Hawaiian healing practices, with guidance from kūpuna and practitioners of lāʻau lapaʻau. The foundation has received grant funding from the State of Hawaiʻi and is making strong progress toward breaking ground on this much-needed project.

BUt we need your help.
The Puna Community Medical Center Foundation is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and its operational expenses are sustained by generous donations from the Puna community.
Grant funding has enabled PCMCF to secure initial land leases from the Department of Land and Natural Resources; engage James M. McKeague Architect & Associates to design the hospital campus and workforce housing; develop compliant wastewater infrastructure; and conduct the environmental assessments required for permitting.
Your tax-deductible donation keeps PCMCF running and helps us secure additional state and federal funding—bringing us closer to the day we can open our doors to serve you.
Please consider giving. No amount is too small to make a difference.
